An Emergency Contraception Service is available at Medipharm In-Store. Emergency contraception (sometimes described as the morning after pill) can be effective up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. Our pharmacist can deliver the service discreetly in a private consultation room, providing you with all the advice you will need.

If the pharmacist feels the service is not suitable for you, or that you need more advice on contraception or sexual health issues, he or she may advise you to see your doctor or visit your local family planning clinic.

If you are sexually active, it is really important to take good care of your sexual health, firstly by practising safe sex, and secondly, by choosing a regular long-term method of contraception that suits you.

Emergency Contraception is not as effective as other forms of contraception such as the pill or condoms used appropriately. Emergency contraception does not protect you against sexually transmitted infections. If you are worried, speak to your GP or family planning clinic about how to arrange counselling/advice as necessary.
