Kenya Build 15th - 22nd June 2013
Kenya Build is a charity spearheaded by Sligo man, Basil Love, since 2005.
Every year, he organizes a group of volunteers from Ireland to travel to Kenya and help in the construction and maintenance of homes, schools and orphanages for socially disadvantaged children.
Here, the volunteers work alongside local workers and help the disadvantaged in a unique way, experiencing their culture, way of life and daily hardship.

Many of the children that end up in these orphanages have nowhere else to go, have seen their parents die from diseases such as aids, malaria or typhoid without having the means to avail of the necessary life-saving medicines. Others are there because their parents or grandparents simply cannot cope.
I was given the opportunity to volunteer with this charity and jumped at the chance. Volunteering is something I’ve always wanted to do and have been passionate about for as far back as I can remember.
I will be traveling with Basil and numerous volunteers on June 15th to Nairobi where we will continue assisting in the development and construction of ‘Dreams Orphanage’ on the outskirts of the city which is sure to be a life-changing experience.
I’m so happy to be part of this group and look forward to helping them achieve their goal of improving ‘Dreams Orphanage’.
