Medimummy Colic Tips!

What a nightmare!

It's very difficult to watch your baby screaming in pain for hours on end, baby Belle went through the mill with colic. She just couldn’t get her wind up! It would usually start at 5 pm and go on until 8 or 9 pm, poor little thing so upset and bringing her little legs up in pain.

First thing I tried was  the Infacol drops before she had her bottle, they worked a little but not for long , then I changed the formula to SMA lactose free that worked but after a few days make her a little constipated so I put her back on the Aptamil adding in the Colief drops in each bottle. This seemed to ease it a bit for her but she was still screaming for at least an hour each night.

My next stop was my chiropractor Kelley, she has done wonders for me over the last few years so asked for her advice, she told me to bring baby Belle in ASAP and she would have a look at her . At our first appointment Kelley told me there were three points along her back that needed to be adjusted, one along the pelvis witch is connected with digestion. Belle was great throughout as it is only slight pressure being applied and she the slept most of the day, after the first appointment she was a different baby and smiled for the first time later that day and the crying stopped. Belle would get her wind up after each bottle and settle much better. This lasted ten days so we went back for our second appointment, Kelley had said it could take up to three appointments to clear the colic up . After this adjustment Belle was again great but I took her back for a third appointment just to be sure and ever since there has been no screaming for hours and no crying from mum or baby! I am still using the Colief drops just until she is around four months.

Having your baby adjusted after birth is such a great idea. If you think of what they have been through its tough on them being pushed out of a lovely environment down the birth canal and into the big world. If they have gotten stuck and have to be helped out something could come out of alignment and cause these things like colic.

So if you’re having the same problem I had have a look into going to a chiropractor or an osteopath .

Baby belle just had her first set of immunisations, she roared the place down and had a plaster on both legs.  Big sister looked after her and kissed them better!

Toilet training is complete on big sister, just got to get the night time down but may leave that for a few months!
