In 1932 Revlon invented nail enamel as we know it today. During the 1920’s and 1930’s the only nail enamel available to women was pale and transparent and available in only 3 shades-light, medium or dark. Charles Revson developed a process of manufacturing nail enamel using pigments as a colour base instead of dyes, This meant that Revson was able to offer women a wide range of colours and shades never seen before, including pinks ,corals and of course state-of-the–art reds that became known as the Revlon Reds.

Nowadays lots of people have started using shellac instead of the original nail polish. One of the downfalls of Shellac is that you have to dress to suit your nail colour as opposed to changing your nail colour to suit your outfit, mood etc. Also the process of leaving nail polish on for up to three weeks must weaken the health of the nails. Here at Medipharm we favour New York Colour nail polishes which are cheap and come in a wide range of funky colours. We also, with respect to Charles Revson, love the quality and range of colours from Revlon who are always up to date with the latest fashion colours. For longer lasting colour always use a base coat and top coat.
